The brief
The garden was unusable after dark and floodlights on the house elevation had made the planting look flat and the terrace unwelcoming.
Our approach
Floodlights came out. Mature trees are uplit through the canopy, boundary walls are grazed, and the planting between them is left dark so the garden reads as layered depth. Pool luminaires are held low and warm so the water glows rather than glares.
The outcome
The family now use the garden most evenings through the cooler months — the brief in one sentence.
